Abstract

The Pla dlUrgell is a wide topographic depression between the Segre river and the limestone mountains which divide the Ebro basin from the Llobregat and Francolí basins. The shape of the limestone pebbles taken from some remnants of alluvial quaternary deposits which are unconnected whith the presentday drainage net, and the inadaptation of the Corb river to its basin topography, allow us to infer a modification of the path of this river during the Quaternary. Such inadaptation can be inferred as the result of the neogenic uprising of the southeast edge of the Ebro Depression, related to the formation of the Penedes and Camp de Tarragona grabens.
