Abstract

Some unknown stratigraphical and structural characteristics of the lower Tertiary Ebro Basin infill can be recognized re-examinig in detail the oil drilling and seismical data, according to surface observations. Among Paleogene deposits, whose materials lie directly on the Mesozoic and Paleozoic basement, the existence of Paleocene and Eocene continental sediments can be defined in relationship with some geological structures. Severa1 kinds of angular unconformities developed specially during the middle-upper Eocene and lower Oligocene. The expansion of the Paleogene sedimentary deposits are in direct relationship to the compressive tectonic activity of the Mesozoic-Paleozoic basement.
