Abstract

La Selva is a Neogene small tectonic basin located between the Vallès-Penedès and Empordià basins in the northeastern part of the Catalonian Range. The resistivity of La Selva Neogene rocks has been characterized by vertical electrical soundings. Most of the resistivities range from 10 to 30 0hm.m and correspond to clay and silty rocks. Arkose beds and Pleistocene basalts can be identified by local high resistivities. The map of Neogene sediment thickness points out a very irregular fault pattern in the basin. Deep narrow troughs with more than 300 of Neogene rocks lie between thresholds where the resistive basement comes up near the surface.
