Abstract

The Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM) one of the largest city of the world, presents unpublished challenges and of various magnitudes. Its problems are so large and of a high complexity. Its physical-geographical characteristics, the magnitude of the population, its economic dynamics, management, the housing, the endowment of public service, transportation, etc., they are some of the fields that require investigation. The own dynamic of a city of this magnitude proposes constant challenges; they have been increased with the great quantity of political and economic changes. Important themes are general problems of the urban development, the explosive phenomenon of the population growth and its concentration, its stages and its possibilities of control. The popular urbanization of the new human settlements, the precarious and popular urbanization, its forms of organization, as well as the way of building and improving its housing and count on basic public service.
