Abstract

The successful housing policy in Chile has a dark side. This is a result of the location policy of the housing and of its impact on the urban morphology and in the social structuring process in the space. Even recognising the positive results of the Chilean housing policy as it allowed the reduction of the housing deficit in the population- its consequences in the urban landscape of the city are worrying and makes clear the hypothesis that the weight of centralism is reproduced at the metropolitan level. This explains to a great extent the non-expected impacts of the current housing policy. Try correcting this situation is an imperative issue if Great Santiago wants to really achieve the goals of leadership and competitively in the framework of networked cities.
