Abstract

The squatting movement with its acting upon the consolidated city works as an example for rehabilitation and regeneration of abandoned buildings functionally unuseful for the city. At a popular and self-determinated way it creates a shared use of space for the hole citizenship, far away from the newest theories about the control and security of property and population coming from US-urbanism. The recuperation of spaces, unuseful till that moment for city and community is a fact shown through more than 20 years history of what squatters call Squatted and Self-determinated Social Centres (C.S.O.A.). How this spaces are, why they are this way what is the reason for the squatting movement to organice them.
