Abstract

Relationships with urban restructuring and creative practices of self-management are considered as central dimensions of analysis of the squatter movement in Spain. Describing main tendencies in the evolution of this movement in the two last decades, it is possible to discover a common pattern about urban setting of squatted buildings, even when relevant distinctions about its internal diversity must be pointed out. Finally, the political discourses and actions developed by the squatter movement showed that it constituted a dense social network worried about criticisms on urban issues as they were abandoned by other social movements.
