Firstly, we situate the priory of Meià and the populations that were under the temporary jurisdiction of the barony of the monastery in the time of the prior Josep de Jalpí, and describe the demographic evolution up to that point. We then examine the prior’s biography to contextualize the various contributions. Finally, from the acts on prior Jalpí’s taking possession of the towns of the barony, as the jurisdictional authority, we discover the diverse aspects that the temporary jurisdiction exerted on its vassals. We attach great importance, given their uniqueness, to the documents of the taking of possession, written in the first person and including all kinds of details by the prior himself.
