The wh- questions: the (proto)typical pattern and variances related to pragmatic aspects
Keywords:
Romanian, Wh-questions, prototypical pattern, pragmatic-semantic variantsAbstract
This paper investigates about one thousand WQ- questions with the interrogative cue in initial position from the Atlasul multimedia prozodic Român (AMPRom). It is under debate the (proto)typical pattern of neutral Wh-interrogatives in compari-son with the affirmative sentences with large and contrastive focus on the first component. Then there are introduced some variances from the prototypical model related to pragmatic-semantic aspects
