Duties of Authors
Authors should declare explicitly that there are no conflicts of interest that may have influenced the results obtained or the interpretations proposed. They must also indicate the sources of funding received for their research (if any) in an explicit way in the article (the template for authors contains an example of how this can be done).
The authors of the manuscripts guarantee that their work is original and that the manuscripts neither contain extracts from other authors nor contain other fragments from written works that were previously published by the same authors. Furthermore, the authors confirm the veracity of the data, namely that the empirical data have not been altered to verify hypotheses.
The authors guarantee that the list of authors includes the names of all those individuals who have made a scientifically significant contribution to the work, to the interpretation of the results and the actual writing of the article.
If the authors have gathered data about human voices and/or other personal data, they should include in a separate section or in a footnote a declaration about informed consent. The corresponding author should be prepared to collect documentation of compliance with ethical standards and send it if requested during the peer review or after publication.
Authors should notify the journal editors of any errors in their published articles so that the appropriate corrections can be made. When needed, the journal will publish a correction note containing corrections, clarifications, retractions or apologies.
Duties of Reviewers
The reviewers are committed to performing a critical, honest, constructive, and unbiased review of the scientific quality of the manuscript.
Reviewers should not evaluate articles for which they may have a conflict of interest.
Each manuscript assigned to a reviewer must be considered as confidential. Therefore, these texts should not be discussed with other people. Any information obtained during the peer-review process must be considered confidential and may not be used for personal purposes.
Duties of Editors
The editors ensure the selection of the most qualified reviewers for each manuscript, with the least possible level of bias.
The editors ensure that the decision to publish an article or not is not dependent on the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, country of origin, citizenship, political opinions or any other personal circumstance.
The editors will act swiftly to eliminate from the journal or refuse to publish any article that has been found to plagiarise information from other sources. The journal uses Urkund to systematically check the index of similarity of the papers submitted.
In case that there are co-authors, the editors will guarantee that the consent of all the authors is obtained before the article is published.
The editors undertake not to disclose information regarding the articles submitted for publication to other people other than the author, the reviewers and other editors. The editors are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of the manuscripts, their authors and their reviewers, in such a way that anonymity preserves the intellectual integrity of the whole process.
Editors should detect and avoid all possible conflicts of interest. Editors are required to declare any competing interests and will be excluded from the peer-review process if a competing interest exists. An editor cannot supervise the editorial process of an article or an author which he/she has colliding conflicts of interest. If a conflict of interest is detected, journal editors follow the COPE Core Practices, the Declaration of publishing ethics and best practices for scientific journals published by the University of Barcelona, and similar resolved cases about conflicts of interest.
