Abstract

This work studies the productive reception of classical Greco-Latin tradition in Tucumán’s (Argentina) contemporary dramaturgy. To this end, we have chosen a production by the theater group Manojo de Calles: the drama El país de las lágrimas o lamento de Ariadna (1998), by Verónica Pérez Luna, which is based on an appropriation of the Cretan cycle. This play is inscribed in a moment of transition of the group’s poetic instances: it concludes the initial phase, started in 1993, and inaugurates the moment of its scenic consolidation.
