Previous research have highlighted the role of the early traumatic experiencesas a significant predisposing factor in a wide range of psychopathological disorders. However, the role of the trauma in the development of a psychosis is, nowadays, an understudied area, especially in Spain. In this sense, the goal of this study was to analyze the prevalence of early traumatic experiences in a 48 psychotic patients clinical sample (31 male and 17 female)and to study the potential effect that such experiences may have in the development and evolution of the psychotic disorders. The results obtained showed that 75% of the studied patients referred a previous traumatic history, without existing relevant differences in the prevalence of these experiences between males and females. If differences were found in the presence of positive symptoms, being more frequent in patients with a history of traumatic experiences. These results show the relationship between early traumatic experiences and psychosis, but still need to further deepen the study of the relationship to study how it affects the course and the development of psychotic disorders.Downloads
