In the past 25 years parenting coordination has evolved to be instaurated in the US and Canada as a useful intervention for families in high conflict post-separation. This article offers a practical introduction to parenting coordination. After revising the concepts of high conflict, coparenting and parenting plan, it focuses on the practice of parenting coordination following the initial, implementation, maintenance, and final phases. Disengaging high conflict coparents is a central objective and several strategies and unique tools in parenting coordination are described to achieve it. Finally, some ethical considerations in the parenting coordination practice are presented, underlying 10 common errors to avoid.Downloads
