Abstract

Although not a new phenomenon, last years’ increase in the number ofadoptions carried out in Spain has brought about the need of new professional interventions. Among them, those associated with the response to the problems that the adoption community (adoptive families, adopted persons, birth families) sets forth after adoption legalization. This paper analyzes the context inwhich post-adoption services are situated, seven areas that often bring families to post-adoption services are examined, different levels of support in postadoption services are considered and there is a reflection on the best ways torespond to the expressed needs. Arguments in the paper are illustrated withdata from research on domestic and intercountry adoptions.
