Abstract

The development of primary prevention of eaiing disorders (EA) in school setting aims to modifi attitudes and risky hehaviour. The basical contents of this programme are: to develop self-critical ability, to improve self-esteem and assertiveness and to provide physiological knowledge regarding weight control, sex influence on the body image and well-balanced feeding. Several reports have revealed the ineficacy as well as the harmful effect resulting from receiving knowledge related to EA and diets. This is a low-cost and easy-to-perform programme involving amusing, brief talks addressed to high risk population {Especially Compulsory Secondary Schoolgirls) favouring the achievement of successful results. The "Such as you are" Programme has been put into practice in the Valencian Community in a population of 2.109 girls whose ages ranged from 12 to 15 years in one 75-minute session, reaching significant changes in attitudes and behaviours.
