By euthanasia we understand the right to decide freely on the final processes of one's own life. Most people wish for a peaceful death, free of suffering. Medical progress has produced remarkable results in prolonging life, but has not always ensured a proportional rise in quality of life. There are situations in which physical and moral pain become degrading. Toghether with un ethical justification of euthanasia the article presents information on how the right to die with dignity has gained public support, and on the legislation in western countries.Downloads
