Acerca de la unidad de análisis en psicología del desarrollo

Vygotsky proposed substituting Piaget's diadic "unit of analysis" by a triadic unit of analysis, in which "someone" socially organizes the subject's activity with the object of knowledge. This proposal has led several authors to formulate "semiotically-mediated activity" as a unit of analysis. In this article, using the notion of context as our starting point, we discuss the validity of this unit by means of un example: part of a set of observations of a 4-year-old child with its mother in natural situations in the family context. In the conclusions, we stress the validity of Vygotsky's proposals of the social nature of the human mind.
