The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between quality of life and adaptation to illness with a range of demographic and clinical characteristics (sex, age, type of chemotherapy and number of cycles of treatment received) in cancer patients receiving chernotherapy. Before receiving chemotherapy, 140 cancer patients were interviewed to assess their quality of life as well as their adaptation to illness. Results show that women had lower levels of quality of life than men, and that patients who received more cycles of treatrnent have also a lower quality of life. No relation was found between adaptation to illness and the other variables studied. Implications of these data for clinical applications are discussed.Downloads
