Abstract

Brief study of the five known treasures of the Sertorian war (82-72 BC) which appeared in Catalonia (four made up of silver coins and one of bronze): Canal d’Urgell (78 BC), El Camp de les Lloses (ca. 80-75 BC), Oristà (74/73 BC), Ínsula 30 of Empúries (74/73 BC) and Alt Empordà I (ca. 75-70 BC). Their different composition (two with Emporion drachmas, Iberian denarii and Roman denarii, two with only Roman denarii, one with bronze units, almost all of Catalan origin) shows the diversity of motivations and the owners of these sets.

Key words: Sertorian war, Catalonia, monetary concealment, circulation, Emporion drachmas.
