Abstract

This contribution aims to deal with the based on the research on the history of armour and its productive context has been approached. From a general and specific state of the art of different academic fields, the historiographic attention received, the sources used and the majority study approaches and perspectives will be determined. The main objective pursued is to assess the extent to which the preceding studies have deepened the socio-economic relationships between arms manufacturers and commercial agents present the main supply, as well as export and distribution circuits of arms and armour.

Author Biography

Pere BADIA ARROYO

Pere Badia Arroyo: I have a Master's degree in Medieval Cultures (MCM) from the University of Barcelona and I am currently completing my doctoral thesis within the framework of the Medieval Cultures Doctorate Program (DCM). My research falls within the line of research on Power and institutions: economy, society, relationships and ways of life and addresses commercial and industrial reality of Barcelona in the arms sector during the Late Middle Ages. In 2019 I participated in the International Symposium, Craftsmen and metalworking in medieval cities: 35 years, with a paper titled "Barcelonese Armour industry and maritime trade during the Late Middle Ages (1240-1478)". I have recently published an article in the magazine Gladius entitled: «En la mar ab los mantellets una milicia municipal de ballesteros en defensa de la frontera marítima de la Barcelona bajomedieval (c. 1356-1516)».
