Abstract

One of the most fascinating as well as romantic episodes recounted by Plutarch about the late Roman Republic was the flight of C. Marius (cos. I 107 BC) from
Rome after the conquest of the city by L. Cornelius Sila (cos. I 88 BC). In this story, reality and fiction are mixed, which we try to discern.

Luis AMELA VALVERDE

Luis Amela Valverde (1964) has a doctorate in Geography and History from the University of Barcelona, ​​doctor in Humanities, Art and Education from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and doctor in Philology from the University of Barcelona. Member of the CEIPAC Research Group of the UB. Author of about twenty books and more than three hundred articles on the late Roman Republic and the late Hellenistic world, especially on the figure of Gnaeus Pompey the Great and the numismatics of the period.
