Abstract

The battle of Lepanto has been studied from very different approaches. It is one of the main military milestones of the 16th century, a battle that faced two antagonistic enemies with more than 200 galleys on each side. However, mistrust within the Holy League made its operation very difficult, with constant uncertainty between Spaniards and Venetians. In this study, one of the sides will be analyzed, through correspondence and direct communication between the king and the senior Hispanic leadership of the League.
