Abstract

During the 21th Century the study of the geographical space known as Lacus Ligustinus has reached new heights, pointing out its enormous relevance in various issues such as the economy, landscape, settlement and communications of the area. It is a territory that continues to arouse the interest of historical science and that, thanks to the possibilities offered by new technologies, is also quite defined from every point of view. However, less interest has been aroused by the origin of a name that stands out for its scarce presence in written sources. In this sense, the main aim of this work is to determine the analysis of the possible reasons that explain its exceptionality.
