Phonetic prosody of representative and absolute interrogative utterances: local and global effects

The aim of this paper is to establish the main prosodic traces in which differ representative and absolute interrogative utterances in Mexican Spanish laboratory speech data. First, it is considered the role of frequency in the tonal peaks and in the final juncture; second, it is discussed the weight of intensity and duration; and, finally, it is mentioned the possible contribution of some special traces, as the presence of unvoiced vowels. On the other hand, it is presented a lineal vs. a cubic model of acoustic factors, and it is argued which elements have an overall effect and which a local effect.
