La focalización prosódica: funcionalidad en los niveles lingüístico y pragmático

The aim of this research is to analyze some aspects of the focus from the syntactic, semantic, pragmatic, discursive and prosodic perspectives, being the prosodic focalization, in the last instance, the main subject of interest. After a brief introduction of some issues relating to the focus, a brief description follows as to how the syntactic focus may be delimited by relating it to new information, and also how some experimental studies have shown that the prosodic focalization is not always correlated with the syntactic focalization. Thereafter, some of the procedures used by the speaker to focalize parts of the spontaneous oral speech will be shown not to be necessarily related to new information, but to the speaker´s interests in respect of the communicative act itself, and to those of its interlocutor.
