Abstract

The problem arises from a criticism of the official conception of gender equity in Mexico, which gained strength during the last decade of the twentieth century pushed by the momentum of a feminist movement with Eurocentric features and at par, by a neoliberal ideology concocted from international organizations, from which the dominant paradigm that for decades has been guiding the design of public policies was established. However, more recently, parallel to that line of thought an alternative paradigm from traditionally marginalized social actors excluded from the dominant economic and political system has been constructing itself. Specially as is the case of the Zapatista women whose claims are partly similar to the broader feminist movement, although their struggle has substantial differences highlighted in this document and which constitute an important contribution to the decolonial theory.
