Based on a reading of Foucault’s biographies written by Eribon and by Miller, of Defert’s interviews, of books written by Veyne, Guibert, Morey, and, finally, based on Foucault’s own texts and interviews, we will explore the last years of his life and his work, from the publication, in 1976, of the first volume of History of Sexuality, until his death, on June 25th 1984, caused by AIDS. Foucault’s death was one of these moments «when something wobbles» said Favereau. We will also analyse this time of «indecision full of enigma and surprises», in Morey’s words, that opened up after Foucault’s disappearance, after the interruption of his work.
