Abstract

Storytelling is an inherent aspect of human behavior. Since ancient times, humans have felt the need to transmit stories, which ultimately implies transporting the recipient to a new reality. The objective of this paper is to examine the way in which reality influences the new literary reality. To this purpose, the paper puts forward a method of analysis for literary works, and puts it to work by examining two texts of different genres (fantastic and realistic): The Lord of the Rings and Madame Bovary.
