Abstract

While early television fiction productions usually lacked representation of non-heteronormative identities, in the last two decades this problem is being increasingly addressed with the emergence of queer protagonists. This research focuses on two TV series by Russell T Davies to establish a trajectory of the representation of queer subjects in TV fiction, concluding that they have evolved from having an inclusive and normalizing function to focusing on the representation of the queer subject’s status in today's society and of the problems they face due to their identity, both in the present and in the near future.
