Abstract

This paper reflects on the presence of music in Eric Rohmer’s essays and cinematographic work from an interdisciplinary perspective that considers the author’s thoughts on other arts, especially literature and cinema. Our aim is to show the important reflection on artistic creation and reception that Rohmer made through the literary genre of the essay and that he implemented in his films. His realistic perspective inspired by Bazin’s film criticism and Balzac’s literary work influenced his way of conceiving and using music in cinema.
