Abstract

This article proposes an interpretation of three poems by Gabriel Ferrater that problematize the notion of objectivity in poetry –not only from their respective specificity but also through the sense of their ordering. This problematization places them at the centre of the counter-poetic tension that characterizes Ferrater’s work. The interpretation of the first poem, «Literatura», will be the main focus of the article. The resulting interpretation allows for a better understanding of the other two poems: «A través dels temperaments» and «A l’inrevés». By using Ferrater’s own reflections on the relationship between experience and literature, the article also establishes a minimal theoretical framework that illuminates the conflicts around objectivity in Ferrater’s poetry.
