Abstract

This article begins by considering the inclination towards marginality as an outstanding characteristic of the work of Mexican writer Guadalupe Nettel, and focuses on the study of texts, themes, and issues often overlooked by critics and which remain in a marginal position within the author's corpus. I focus on the short stories through a strabismic and a haptic gaze, thus shifting the focus from the eye and the gaze to the skin and touch. Through this shift, I read the short stories "Ptosis", "Hongos" and "La impronta" to identify how Nettel disarranges the biopolitical dispositions of bodies and displays counter-pedagogies of cruelty.
