De la representación a la huelga. Las trabajadoras del tabaco (ciudad de México, segunda mitad del siglo XIX)
Abstract
Since the mid 1840’s, women’s labour in the tobacco industry of Mexico City has been threatened by the irruption of machines, a situation which worsened as the century progressed. This article analyzes to what extent industrialization, “dequalifi cation” and manual-work displacement have infl uenced the working conditions and resistance strategies of those women devoted to the production of cigars.Downloads
