"Temiéndome de la muertes que es cosa natural a toda criatura...".An approximation to the mortuary sensitivity. (City of Salta ,XVIII Century).
Keywords:
Mortuary sensitivity, Last will and testament, Fear of deathAbstract
Death appears to our eyes as an experiential reality, though it cannot be experienced Thus, its awareness provokes different feelings and emotions We are particularly interested in reflecting on how men and women of the City of Salta in the 18th century experienced the nearness of death through their last wills and testaments They show that while these people regarded death “as a natural thing to every creature”, the perception of its proximity changed their actions to the point that if there was health improvement, the completion of the will could be suspended
