The migration of people from the modern day Northeast region of Brazil to different areas of the province of Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon region, was generally understood in the historiography from the viewpoint of the participation of these migrants in the rubber economy in the late nineteenth century. However, this migration process was more complex and derived from many motivations and interests. This paper discuss some of the motivations for the migration to Pará and the many ways taken or desired by different groups of migrants who left Ceará and arrived in Pará between 1889 and 1915Downloads
