When Juan Manuel de Rosas took over the government of Buenos Aires, he implemented a singular policy with indigenous groups located in the southern areas of the province. Known as «Negocio Pacífico de Indios», this meant among other things, compulsory native aid to the regime. This article analyses what and how the «friendly indians» support was carried out, as well as its consequences for these groups. It covers a period which began in 1829 and ends in 1852, when Rosas was defeated in the Battle of CaserosDownloads
