Collective manifestations of mourning in front of Eva Peron death (Tucumán, 1952)

The aim of this study is to analyze the mass demonstrations of mourning that were deployed from the death of Eva Peron on July 26, 1952 in the province of Tucumán. First, I want to analyze the role occupied by the ecclesiastical institution in the program of official celebrations and, in this way, to give an account of the unprecedented multiplication of religious fervor visible in that context. Second, I propose to advance in the analysis of massive popular religiosity that surrounded the death of Eva Peron, which formed a staging of the union between the Church and the government and the overlap between Catholicism and Peronism.Downloads
