Abstract

A refl ection on national museums and their role as a communication space of representation, and as a place where the memory of a nation is deposited and exposed. This article is part of a study about creation and development of national museums in Chile during XIXth Century, a process that was thought by the State as part of the project of construction of the nation-state, intellectually and politically supported, and a constantly re-articulated by political and socioeconomic changes
