The Patricio Guzmán’s documentary film La Batalla de Chile (The Battle of Chile, 1975-1979) is to this day the most comprehensive documentary about the Coup d’État in Chile in 1973. Here we analyze especially the third part, El poder popular (The Popular Power, 1979) as a graphical source of analysis of contemporary history. Through the language of cinema, our intention is to provide methodological elements for the construction of historical discourse from audiovisual sources. In this case, the theme is the Chilean process towards socialism of Salvador Allende and its dramatic end in the Coup d’État of September 11, 1973.Downloads
