Author Guidelines

General notes for publication: objectives, themes and structure.

Crítica Penal y Poder (hereinafter CPyP) is an online journal comprised of work related to the subject that gives its name to its title: the study of the "criminal matter" (la questione criminale), i.e. the study of the criminal phenomenon, the processes of criminalization and punishment and its forms, institutions, discourses and practices, from a critical perspective. Likewise, the dimension of power in the broader context of political, economic and / or cultural domination gives more structured explanations for those phenomena. In this regard, the journal seeks to promote the publication of articles to reflect on these issues, always trying to bring about a multidisciplinary perspective: CPyP publishes articles from the social sciences, law, criminology, sociology, anthropology and history.

At the present time, CPyP also offers research reports and documents produced by the Observatory of the Penal System and Human Rights at the University of Barcelona, a research centre from which emanates this journal.

Finally, CPyP publishes reviews of recent national or foreign publications linked to the objects of study.

CPyP will accept national and international contributions in various languages (e.g. Spanish, Catalan, English, Portuguese, Italian or French).

CPyP has preference for unpublished articles.

Articles must go through an external review process (vid peer review process). Articles will be reviewed by two anonymous referees. This review will be blind, to ensure the neutrality of evaluation.

Ensuring a blind review

It is the author's responsibility to ensure that the paper as submitted permits a blind peer review. Therefore, please remove your name from the front page and the body of the paper in case of self-citations or bibliographical references to previous works, and replace it with "Author" ("Author A", "Author B" and so on in the case of multiple authors).

Submission and processing charges: CP&P does not have either article submission charges or article processing charges (APCs)

Copyright: The author retains the copyright and authorizes the journal the right of first publication of the work

The CPyP publications are licensed under Creative Commons' Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Spain (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 GB).
