La nueva extrema derecha en Catalunya: un análisis del crecimiento electoral de Plataforma per Catalunya
Abstract
The anti-immigration party Platform for Catalonia (PxC) has experienced a gradual increase in the time frame that runs from its first elections in 2003 up to the 2011 municipal elections. In this time period, it has gone from having a reduced and heavily concentrated electoral support to receiving votes from all parts of Catalonia. The text has the objective of explaining both the successes and weaknesses of PxC during the 2003-2011 election cycle. Assuming that currently there is in Spain a sufficient demand for the electoral success of an anti-immigration party like PxC, the text focuses on the analysis of the political and electoral strategy developed by the party to “capture” such electoral demand and in its interaction with the social and political context of Catalonia.
