Resum

Cities contribute decisively to the degradation of the local, regional and global environment. In view of this situation, in recent decades some theoretical approaches that aim to reform the current urban operation model has been gaining ground. These formulations propose interventions in a plurality of spheres –economic, politics, town planning, etc.– to mitigate the environmental impacts that generate urban spaces, highlighting the importance given to the participation of population in this process of urban transformation. This paper examines the claims of six citizen associations of Barcelona, showing how they articulate with the theoretical contributions that advocate a change of urban policies according to the environmental criteria.
