Abstract

The main purpose of this communication is to examine the functioning of the transversal organization moving the North Rivera Project forward. This project is aimed at redeveloping an area near Concepción’s (Chile) downtown area. Using the notion of “glocalization”, a non-structural approach to power and interpreting the formal and informal social rules operating at interconnected functional levels, the analytical attention is placed on the channels used by social actors to exert power and advance particular urban agendas. The paper concludes by identifying the main strategies used and considering the potential utility of this line of investigation.
