Territorialism and ecologism of tourism

Abstract

Citizens fight against environmental aggressions that make deeper unsustainability through “territorialism”, understood as local defence of the environment. The universalization of this objective, affronting environmental risk and social inequity, is the aim of the citizens’ ecologism. Tourism opinion of these political ideologies is analysed, especially concerning on ecotourism which maintains a strong link with the ecologist ideal. This is done through the example of the Balearic Islands, because they are considered as paradigms of this relation, because author’s previous research on sustainability indicators and on participation of citizens in popular movements.
