Abstract

The urban agglomeration is expansion process of distinct urban nucleus with production and fluxes intensification overstepping the political/administrative limits of the counties. The study of the urban agglomeration process is important as it contribute to planning and public management. So it is intended to contribute on the researches about this theme through studying Presidente Prudente and Alvares Machado cities, in the São Paulo state, Brazil. It was carried out bibliography research, data search and visits to the areas. The results had shown that the urban agglomeration process includes not only spatial aspects but also social and economic ones for the reason that this process occurs in districts with lowering income people. These results enhance the importance of the urban planning as a instrument to public management.
