Abstract

Since the concept of sustainability has become central in the recent years, it is paramount to create guides that allow to evaluate the improvements, trends and state of territories under this approach. This article describes a methodological proposal that permit to deduct some improvements in the assessment and definition of the concepts of diversity, inequality and spatial cohesion. At the same time, some topics that need to be improved are identified, specially those referred to the theoretical development and practical measurement of sustainability and the availability of statistical information that fulfil some requirements such us spatial desegregation and temporal continuity.
