À geografia dos esportes: uma introdução

Abstract

Nowadays, sports are becoming increasingly important, raising attention in several fields of academic production.Geography, pushed by its recent transformation, started to study this rich and vast field of research., trying to offer special view and contribution. Unfortunately, few geographers have dealt with the subject, in such way that this article intends to suggest a small set of themes for future works. On the other hand, looking for to defend the viability of Sports Geography, we also wish to discuss the links between geographical analisys and the realm of sports, taking the latter as an empirical fact and as theoretical and conceptual problematisation.
