Abstract

During the period of 1823-1917, the Mexican territory and particularly that of the West, registered large transformations in the configuration of its geopolitics units, as much in the level of the States as at the interior of them. These transformations are interpreted as the result of interests and regional fights that have lead into modifications and changes of certain territorial units. Some changes of the geopolitics units, have turned out as a product of plans and actions directed to have a more adequate territorial division for the government administration. This document analyze the territorial processes of Jalisco and some adjacent states. To document the study, we have consulted the available cartography, the legal dispositions that have been emitted and some documents that refer fights by the possession of territories. These processes studied, at last they derived in new territorial configurations, whether as new states or like new units inside the existing states.
