The assimilation of the ideas of Ratzel and the new vision of the Mexican territory

Abstract

During the first two decades of the XX century existed in Mexico particularly favorable conditions for the diffusion and assimilation of the ideas of Friedrich Ratzel, still when his works of Antropogeografía and The Human Races were mostly well-known, this were the works of political geography that had a bigger one welcomed in those decades. Especially the theory of the State of Ratzel served as sustenance in the elaboration of projects and proposals of reconstruction of the national State. In this work, it is tried to show that starting from the reformulation of the ideas of Ratzel, the elements of the Mexican territory acquired new political meanings.
