Abstract

This i articulate it treats about the spanish hygienic doctors that made possible the introduction and the development of the hygienic doctrine in Spain and is divided in two great sections. First it is dedicated to the work of the pioneering hygienic doctors as it is the case of Mateo Seoane, Pedro Felipe Monlau and Francisco Méndez Álvaro, who complements itself with a study of spanish legislation in matter of hygiene promulgated between 1700 and 1863. The second section of i have been articulating, on the one hand for reference to the continuing hygienic doctors, within hygienic nucleus from Barcelona of end of century XIX, like Juan Giné Partagás and Rafael Rodríguez Méndez, and by another one, to the creation, operation and regulation of the Sections of special hygiene, destined to the prevention of the diseases derived from the prostitution such as syphilis, among others.
